Moe Mashed Us Again

Went to the nati and watched the Vikes lose a heartbreaker to longtime rival Moeller, 27-17. I came away with these observatiosn:

* Nippert Stadium (and UC in general) really is a very nice venue. I may have to try to get down there for a UC football game sometime, I feel like when the place is packed it really makes some noise.

* Spencer Ware is good, but really not a thrower. Granted there were a few off throws that were more of a play miscommunication than anything, but he was constantly putting the ball at the knees. Not to say there weren't flashes of D-1 passing, but I feel like he would be much better off as a runningback or wide reciever in college (I would be surprised if any college coaches disagreed with me).

* Princeton will definitely have a good year this year. They more than doubled Moeller in offensive production, and were it not for two interceptions, probably would have walked away with a win. Both the offensive and defensive line still have a ways to go, but nothing to keep them from having a fun season.

* If the football team was even half as fun to watch as this when I were in school, I would have been very satisfied.

* The student section is really going downhill. A big Whiskey Tango Foxtrot to that one....

yep. and just as amazing really is Jeff Duckworth going to Wisconsin, a Big Ten school. That'll be at the very least three division one prospects on this team, not too shabby....

....given that type of talent (at least as the scouts see it) i would think that this year should be very good. if not, maybe evan had a point way back when... ;-)

I wasn't impressed with Duck last year, and wasn't really impressed on Saturday. Wisconson SHOCKED me. That said, he got 178 yds and a TD...must've been doing something right.

Oh, and you forgot to add "Forgot how awesome it is to visit with two best teachers in the world."

And were you as unimpressed with the offensive line as I was? It seemed like Spencer was scrambling on half the plays.

- Duckworth has fairly good size for a slot receiver and based on the few nicely thrown passes he got in open space, he has the legs to make some nice yards after the catch. Wisconsin was one of his two schollie offers, with Indiana being the other one. He won't be a Ted Ginn, but as an example, Brian Robiskie (a wide reciever for OSU now) got less hype than Duckworth as a senior in high school, so anything is possible...

- yes, i did forget to mention that. it was by far the highlight of the second half

- Princeton couldn't even have an offensive line when Aaron Brown was on the team. There really isn't much of a concrete explanation; I would go with the argument that the general attitude of the team doesn't praise the nasty, badass, no-praise-needed mentality that good offensive lines need to have. The amazing thing about it is though, even when Spencer ran it right through the line, he still would get 4 yards pretty consistently. Just more evidence to my belief that he will be a runningback in college.

I'm actually going to try to make the Centerville game on Friday because I have to return something from the Target there anyways (closest one to school) and hey, I'm kind of a fan of football....

/longest post EVER. for sure.
